1908-2008 100 años despues . . . La vida de Allende se celebra Su gobierno, que alcanzaría a durar mil días, terminó abruptamente mediante un golpe de Estado el 11 de Septiembre de 1973, tres años antes del fin de su mandato constitucional. Ese mismo dia tambien se finalizo la vida del Presidente Salvador Allende y con el se fue la esperanza de un Chile que buscaba un futuro mejor y en cambio el pueblo cayo bajo un regimen militar encabezado por Augusto Pinochet cuales llevo a miles hacia el exilio. Pero no es la tragedia del pasado, sino la vida recordada la razon por cual se reuniran los Chilenos, sus familias y amigos para celebrar el centenial de la vida de Salvador Allende. Porque aunque solo tenia 65 años cuando fallecio, es una figura Chilena que siguira viviendo como ejemplo de democracia, humanidad y patriotismo.
100 years later . . . Allende's life is celebrated His government which only ruled for 1000 days came to an abrupt halt following a coup de tat on September 1973, three years prior to completing his constitutional mandate as Chile's democratically elected president. That same date marked the end of his life and with it the hopes of a better life for Chileans who had elected him to serve as the head of state. And with his death Chileans fell under the rule of a military regiment headed by Augusto Pinochet who sent thousands into exile. But it is not the tragedy of the past, but the life that is remembered the reason why Chileans, their families and friends will come together to celebrate the centennial of Salvador Allende's life. Although he was only 65-years-old at the time of his death, Chileans continue to count the years as he is a figure that continues to live as an example of democracy, humanity and patriotism.
